Protecting The Mind For Battle

Sunday March 31, 2024
Protecting the mind for battle.  In Ephesians 6, the armor to protect the head is the helmet of salvation.  There is a battle for the mind.  One of the tactics of the enemy is to cause discouragement.  This can actually strike a more fatal blow than what any weapon could yield.  In today’s reading, the context of our reading is around Absalom, David’s son, and his advisers plans regarding rebelling against David.  One of the hypothetical scenarios was “If some of our troops fall first, someone is sure to hear and say, ‘There’s been a slaughter among the people who follow Absalom’.  Then, even a brave man with the heart of a lion will lose heart” (2 Samuel 17:9-10).  Discouragement can be a mighty weapon causing an entire army to fall.  We need not be discouraged for Christ has risen from the dead!  This is the assurance of salvation that we have, knowing that we, who are born again, will live again, even the resurrection of our Savior!
