God Is For Good

God is for good.  In our psalm this morning, we read about how God is for good.  It does not matter how talented you are, how hard you work, or how powerful you are.  It is an easy thing for God to drastically bring about change for the good.  God is compassionate and merciful to the humble and God will bring down the proud.  Listen to part of the psalm from this morning, “He turns rivers into desert, springs into thirsty ground, and fruitful land into salty wasteland, because of the wickedness of its inhabitants.  He turns a desert into a pool, dry land into springs.  He causes the hungry to settle there, and they establish a city where they can live.  They sow fields and plant vineyards that yield a fruitful harvest.  He blesses them, and they multiply greatly; He does not let their livestock decrease” (Psalm 107:33-38).  Notice that God works both ways.  He works against the wicked and He works for good.  Try as we might, if we are doing wicked, we will never get ahead.  And, if we are doing good, just be patient because God can bless in the driest of circumstances.  It could be that you are humble, poor, and trying to do what is right, and the powerful continue to take from you.  God said that “Vengeance is mine, I will repay” (Romans 12:19).  God will take care of the cruel oppressors (Psalm 107: 39).  And God will lift the needy out of suffering (v.41). Please do not just think financially about this statement.  The joy and peace you have in serving the Lord can never be stolen.  The more difficult the circumstance, the more joy and grace that is extended to you.  The blessings of God are more precious than gold.  Do good; do what is right in the eyes of the Lord, for God is for good.
