The Work To Be Done

The work to be done.  As we being the Book of Numbers, there are a lot of names and a lot of numbers for the census that was to be done.  But, there was also a lot of work that needed to be done.  Can you imagine trying to move this large of a group and keeping everyone together?  Can you imagine organizing such a work force to actually get the necessary work completed so that the group could travel?  God tells Moses and Aaron to take a census of the Kohathites, Gershonites, and the Merarites.  They were to register all the men from 30 years old to 50 years old, everyone who was qualified to do the work at the tent of meeting.  Then he gave each clan their duties and who was in charge for their respective clan (Numbers 4: 1-33).  There was no asking for volunteers.  They were registered for the work.  This was all necessary work and it would take everyone to contribute in order to accomplish the work the Lord had set forth for them to do.  The repeated phrase is “to do the work”.  Those of us who have been saved, have been saved “to do the work”.  God has a work for us to do.  There is work to be done.
