Exactly Where God Wants You

Exactly where God wants you.  The Lord specifically tells Moses to tell the Israelites to “turn back and camp in front of Pi-hahiroth, between Migdol and the sea” (Exodus 14:2).  This was purposeful to make Pharaoh believe that the Israelites were “wandering around the land in confusion; the wilderness has boxed them in” (Exodus 14:3).  God specifically placed Moses and Israel at the Red Sea and then told them what He would do.  God was going to harden Pharaoh’s heart so that he would pursue them (v.4).  All of this is very important because we must understand that Moses and Israel were at the Red Sea by design, not by chance, and certainly not by mistake.  However, despite knowing all of this, when the saw the Egyptian army, the Israelites panicked and began saying to Moses that you should have left us in Egypt, at least we would have been alive.  But Moses said to the people, “Don’t be afraid.  Stand firm and see the Lord’s salvation that He will accomplish for you today…..The Lord will fight for you, and you must be quiet” (Exodus 14:13-14).  Despite all that God had already done with the ten plagues, the deliverance from Egypt, and the leading by cloud and fire, the people still lacked faith, or was very weak in their faith at best, when it came time to actually trust the Lord.  Moses cries out to the Lord and the Lord asks Moses, “Why are you crying out to me?”  (v.15).  God had already communicated the plan.  God had already told Moses and the people what He would do.  God essentially instructs Moses to follow through with the instructions that had already been communicated and that God was going to do His part, which was hardened Pharaoh’s heart (v.17).  When we are following God’s instructions and are exactly where He wants us to be, we have nothing to fear.  May we be quiet, in that we are not complaining, and follow through, by faith, what God has told us to do.
