God Dwells With His Children

Sunday January 26, 2025
God dwells with His children.  As we read some of the instructions about sacrifices and ordination of priests, we might be curious of how it applies to us.  One of the things that we can try to appreciate is the great lengths God went to in order to establish a way.  God is a holy God and the reason that all of these things we read about was set forth by God was because of sin.   Sin has caused that much damage and has separated us from a holy God.  It is at the end of our reading this morning, though, that we get a glimpse of the purpose God had in mind for all of this.  We read, “I will dwell among the Israelites and be their God.  And they will know that I am the Lord their God, who brought them out of the land of Egypt, so that I might dwell among them.  I am the Lord their God” (Exodus 29:45-46).  Isn’t that amazing?  Isn’t that wonderful news?  God’s desire was not to be some God in the distant that they would call out to in time of need.  No!  God wanted to be present with them, to dwell with them.  God has gone to even greater lengths for us.  God sent His only Son, the Lamb of God, to be our sin sacrifice.   For those who have received this free gift by grace through faith, God did so with a desire to dwell with you.  God sent one just like Christ, the Son of God, to dwell with us.  He is the Holy Spirit, the third part of the Trinity.  God is not absent, nor distant.  He dwells with us and is an ever present help in time of need.
