The Leading of the Lord

Tuesday January 21, 2025
The leading of the Lord.  After God shows the Israelites His mighty power in destroying Pharaoh’s army, “the people feared the Lord and believed in Him and in His servant Moses” (Exodus 14:31).  The next chapter is Israel’s song and, in this song, they recount the mighty works of the Lord.  One verse stood out to me that reads, “With Your faithful love, You will lead the people You have redeemed; You will guide them to Your holy dwelling with Your strength” (Exodus 15:13).  In the King James Version, the word “mercy” is used instead of “faithful love”, so that it reads “Thou in thy mercy hast led forth the people which thou hast redeemed”.  Whether it be “mercy” or “faithful love”, both communicate a long-suffering on behalf of the Lord in order to lead His people.  The Lord does not give up on His people.  God’s desire is for His people to be with Him, so He guides them to Himself by His strength.  This is the character of God. That same God will do the same for you and me.  This does not give us freedom to sin and live the way we want.  No!  Our desire is to be with Him and for Him to be with us, and guide us.  We can’t make this journey alone.  We need the Lord and the Lord will lead us with His faithful love and strength.
