How Majestic is His Name

Lord, our Lord, majestic is Your name in all of the earth!  The psalmist say, “When I observe your heavens, the work of your fingers, the moon and the stars, which you set in place, what is a human being that you remember him, a son of man that you look after him?” (Psalm 8:3-4).  The psalmist will go on to describe the God of all creation, alluding to God’s power and magnificence.  The psalmist will contrast that with mankind, alluding to man’s weakness and inferiority.  Yet, it is this Almighty God who has put all creation under the feet, or authority of man.  This has two meanings.  First, is the truth that in God’s creation design and record, He put the roll of mankind as having authority over the rest of creation.  The second is that Jesus Christ, the Son of God, who would refer to Himself as the Son of man, would triumph and have all authority in heaven and on earth placed under His feet.  One lesson we can derive is that no matter how bad things may seem, if we would just stop and see the handiwork of God and then consider who we are, we would be driven to worship our God, the Creator of heaven and earth.  How majestic is His name!
