Dreamer

Dreamer.  Remember that Joseph had a dream and the interpretation of that dream, that Joseph’s brothers would bow down to him one day, was part of the reason why his brothers were jealous and Joseph was in Egypt.  However, things seemed to be going well for Joseph in Egypt, become a leader in Potiphar’s house.  Potiphar was an officer of Pharaoh and captain of the guards (Genesis 39:1).  Potiphar’s wife accused Joseph of something he did not do, and Joseph is thrown into prison.  God continues to favor Joseph, placing all of the prisoners under Joseph’s authority (v.22).  While in prison, two of Pharaoh’s staff, cupbearer and baker, were put in prison and these two men had dreams.  The did not know what they meant and Joseph said to them, “Don’t interpretations belong to God?” (Genesis 40:8).  Joseph interprets each dream and in three days, the interpretation Joseph gave to them is exactly what happened.  Joseph remains in prison.  Seemingly nothing changes for him.  These two men had their dreams play out in just three short days, but Joseph is still waiting for his dream to come about.  He was helping others, but not realizing his own….yet.  We must learn to be patient, expectantly waiting on the Lord to do His work as we faithfully do the work He has called us to do, regardless of the circumstances.
