Reason For Delay

Reason for delay.  One of our members recently told me about a lesson they learned from one of their Sunday School teachers when they were growing up.  The lesson they were taught is that God always answers prayer.  The answer is sometimes “yes”, sometimes “no”, and sometimes, “wait”.   In many instances, we are not aware of the reasons why God answers prayers the way He does.  However, in our reading today, the reason for delay is provided.  As Israel would go into the Promised Land, they would have to conquer the people that already occupied the land.   Some of these would be strong and great in number.  God tells the Israelites to be strong and not fear, for God was going to give them the victory over these other people.   But not at one time.  It would be little by little.  But why?  “The Lord your God will drive out these nations before you little by little.  You will not be able to destroy them all at once; otherwise, the wild animals will become too numerous for you” (Deuteronomy 7:22).  While we are not always given a reason, God’s answers are for His glory and our good.  We must learn to trust Him for He has a reason.
