No Enemy Too Big

Thursday March 7, 2024
No enemy too big.  As we read through today’s reading, we are reminded that there is no enemy too big for God.  Individual groups joined forces to try and defeat Israel.  One of the examples is when the King Jbin of Hazor joined with King Jobab of Madon, the kings of Shimron and Achshaph, and the kings of the north in the hill country (Joshua 11:1-4).  It says that “All these kings joined forces; they came and camped together at the Waters of Merom to attack Israel” (v.5).  Remember what Joshau was instructed when he began to lead God’s people after the death of Moses?  Over and over again, he was encouraged to “be strong and courageous” and “Do not be afraid or discouraged” (Joshua 1:9).  Again, here, even when all of these enemies have joined forces to take down the Israelites, God’s message to Joshua is the same, “Do not be afraid of them”.  God delivers the victory, just as He had promised.  Whether it be a single enemy, or an entire group of enemies that join forces to be even greater, our God is greater still!
