Simple Truths

Simple truths.  We must be careful not to lose sight of the simple truths we have always known.  We are susceptible to look at larger, miraculous works regarding God’s power and presence.  We are also susceptible to explaining away other works of God.  I was reminded of this in our reading today.  For example, we read about God, “When He thunders, the waters in the heavens are in turmoil, and He causes the clouds to rise from the ends of the earth.  He makes lightning for the rain and brings the wind from his storehouses” (Jeremiah 10:13).  We have grown accustomed to watching the weather and even planning events around the forecast.  We seem to know when storms are coming and are even warned when there are signs of severe weather.  However, what little we have learned about these matters, does not explain away the mighty work of God.  We may understand some of the conditions that help bring these weather event about, but Who made the conditions?  Where does the wind come from?  We should continue to be amazed at the might hand of God in simple truths.
