A Right Perspective

A right perspective.  In this life, it can be easy for things to get out of perspective.  I thought as I read this text this morning, just how wonderful God is.  Isn’t it wonderful to be a Christian?  We have a personal relationship with Almighty God!  The psalmist begins, “God, you are my God; I eagerly seek you” (Psalm 63:1).  Is that true for you?  Is God, “your God” and do you “eagerly” seek Him?  One of the things I learned through the years is that one way to work on your prayer life is to pray the Scripture.  Just as Jesus gave His disciples, and us, a model of prayer, the Lord’s prayer, there are many prayers in the Scripture.  Have you praised God today for being “your God”?  If you eagerly desire Him, have you told Him?  And if you don’t have you confessed that to Him?  The psalmist goes on to say how desperate he is for God.  Not for what God can do for him, but just for God Himself.  He says, “I thirst for you; my body faints for you in a land that is dry, desolate, and without water” (v.1).  He then prays, “My lips will glorify you because your faithful love is better than life” (v.3).  The psalms can help us pray, but also, because it is God’s Word, it helps us have a right perspective.
